How to have a perfect shower?

Everyone showers practically everyday, we all use Shampoos, Conditioners, Shower gels, Body Scrubs, Towels, Loofahs and sponges. But what do we really know about the stuff we use and why we use them. I have came up with a number of steps to help you to have the perfect shower and explain why we do what we do.

So what are the steps
1. Before you even think of getting into the shower gather up the essentials

The Towels

Shampoo

Conditioner

Shower Gel or Body Wash or Body Scrub

Sponge
Loofah

2. Once you have gathered up all the essentials you are ready to turn on the shower. Adjust the water temperature carefully, ideally the water should be warm but definitely not hot, Unfortunately hot showers can dry out your skin Firstly, the heat from the shower will make your skin's oils soften, and when combined with soap, your skins oil barrier is bound to be stripped away. These oils are very important for your body as they prevent moisture from escaping from your skin. So if your skins oils are stripped away you will end up with dry and itchy skin. So the longer and hotter the shower, the faster this process takes place and the more moisture you're likely to lose. An instant sign that you have showered for too long is if your skin appears red and is itchy when you hop out of the shower, this clearly shows that your skin has dried out. With regular hot showers, you might also notice dry patches of skin that feel scaly or even start to crack.  so try to avoid the temptation of a hot shower when the temperature plummets

3. I don't know about you, but I am one of those persons who tends to accidently let water splash all over the floor while I'm having a shower, So its always a good idea to place a towel on the floor by the shower so that when you step out you have a towel to absorb the moisture from your feet and gather up any accidental splashes!

4 Then step into the shower and get yourself as wet as you can. Once you have gotten completely wet you know its time to put shampoo in your hair.

5. Squirt out a quarter-sized amount of shampoo into your hands by rubbing the product between your palms. Apply the shampoo to your scalp using your fingertips and work the shampoo vigorously into your scalp for about 30 seconds and don't forget the back of your scalp.  If you hair is very long like mine, try bending over and tip your head upside down for easier access to the back (you may need a little more shampoo when you do this)..This first step won't cause too much lather, unless you use really bubbley shampoo, But remember its not always about lathering!! Then rinse off all the product carefully running your fingertips through your hair the whole time. Then re shampoo, Emulsify a minimal amount of shampoo in your hand. Work the shampoo into your hair from scalp to ends for at least 30 seconds longer if you have long hair like me. Then rinse your hair again until all the shampoo has been washed off, when shampoo is not properly rinsed from your hair, it's like a dirt and oil magnet on your scalp. Not good. At the moment I am not sure if I am using the right shampoo for me, I have ultra curly and relatively long hair, does anyone reading this have any Shampoo and Conditioner suggestions for me?

6. Then squeeze any excess water out of your hair and start applying the conditioner, Begin at the ends of your hair and work your way up.  let it set for about three minutes. Then rinse it off, While you are waiting on the conditioner you can get the Loofah/Sponge/washcloth wet and put the shower gel on it.

7.Then apply the soapy loofah or whatever you choose to use  to your entire body then rinse the conditioner out of your hair and the soap off your body.

8. Yay Now your done, you can step out of the shower and start drying yourself!

Tips
I personally am always worried about getting shampoo or even water in my eyes, I wear contact lenses so perhaps my eyes are over sensitive or maybe its the fear of conjunctivitis. Anyway regardless a simple solution is to keep a washcloth nearby in the shower and close your eyes when rinsing. When you finish rinsing get the washcloth and gently rub your eyes to make sure no soap or shampoo got in your face. or while the shampoo is in your head always lean upwards towards the ceiling so that is is less likely for shampoo to get into your eyes.
